The Global Rock Challenge, now also known as ‘Junior Rock’ is a performing arts event involving students in primary and secondary schools around the globe. It shows that young people can achieve a ‘natural high’ without the use of tobacco, alcohol or other substances. It also communicates a health and social message to children in a positive and supportive environment. The challenge is for the students and their teachers to create and be involved in their own production from the initial concept through to the final performance. Following feedback from the children regarding ideas for this year’s performance, our choice of theme will be based around the concept of unconditional love as shown in the children’s book ‘The Giving Tree’.  We will be shaping this idea further with the input of all pupils during the build up to the event.

The performance will take place at Portsmouth Guildhall on Friday 27th March 2015, therefore auditions and rehearsals will begin earlier this year. Children involved will come to school as usual and travel, by coach, to the Guildhall for a day of rehearsals before competing in the evening to an audience. Tickets will be available to purchase nearer the time. This year there is possible added performance date of Wednesday 17th June 2015 should the team qualify for the Southern Junior finals.
