Who are we:
We are a registered charity and we raise funds that go directly to Solent Junior School. These funds provide extra equipment and experiences for the children to enjoy.
The FSJS is run by a committee which consists of a Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. All parents, guardians and extended family are automatically members of the FSJS. Any member is welcome to join the committee, attend meetings and help at events.
Here is our current Committee Team that were elected for 2017/18
Chair – Sam Crutchley
Treasurer – Lucy Sinnott
Secretary – Jess Bannister-Maynard
We hold regular meetings to discuss events, ideas, feedback and future projects. The meetings are alternated to be at School and also off site. We also try and change the times to be in School time and also after School/Evenings so we can accommodate as many people as possible. Everyone is always welcome to attend and catch up with us. Meeting dates will be communicated via School and also on our Facebook page.
How we raise Funds –
Throughout the year we plan and run events to raise funds. These range from things like Movie Nights, Christmas Secret Room, Disco’s, Adult Quiz Nights, Sponsored events, Family events and Joint Events with Solent Infant School. The children and adults really look forward to these events as they are great fun for all to enjoy whilst raising valuable funds for our School.
How can you help?
All help and support is greatly appreciated no matter how small. We are realistic and
understand that parents and carers lead busy lives often juggling work and family life. You can participate as much or as little as you would like. Whether it’s attending a meeting to input your ideas, help run an event or adding comments to our Facebook page we are so grateful for all input.
Why should I be interested in the FSJS?
You are your children’s most important role model. Showing your children you value their education will teach them to value it too..
At our meetings you can have your say. You can raise concerns, suggest ideas and input into how funds are spent.
You will be in the know, you will find out what is going on in school and get to know other members and families better.
Schools are becoming more dependent for fundraising revenue to supplement the School budget.
You will play an important role in helping the school acquire key resources as well as reward the children with some well earned treats.
