At Solent Junior School we are very proud of the way our School Council continues to develop and grow.

The Council meet with Mrs Haydon, Head of School, every three weeks to discuss issues and
ideas affecting the daily life of the school. The process enables all children to have their say about
what happens in school.

The School Council supports the school’s caring community with pupils and teachers working in
partnership towards shared goals. There are improved communications between pupils and
teachers, senior management and governors.

This term we have been busy electing new School Council representatives. Every class has had the
chance to vote for two class reps who will be joined by our head boy and head girl to make up the
School Council. Congratulations to everyone who was elected.

At Solent we like to support different charities locally, nationally and internationally. This term
the School Council will work with their classes to decide which charities they would like to support
this year.

Future topics for the School Council include developing our theme for this year’s Rock Challenge
entry, attendance and lost property.
